I'm starting to think that I was the only one hoping that the spirit of the speech would be reflected in the thread (didn't dare to hope for the forum).

Probably somewhat accurate since they did papers/online. TV would have been:

"Breaking news, Lincoln to speak soon."
"New reports, apparently person to speak isn't actually Lincoln but a random homeless man."
"Now we are getting conflicting reports that it might be Lincoln or it might be his wife."
"Actually, we can now confirm Jed Lincoln is going to speak."
"Correction, apparently it is President Abe Lincoln and not Jed Lincoln as we had been told earlier."
"Reports coming in now that Lincoln has abandoned the speech to instead wack-off in a shed."
"Now we are being told it is in a barn and not a shed."
"A source has just provided details that Lincoln had gone to the barn to take a piss, not wack-off as reported earlier."
"Another source is now saying that Lincoln is actually a robot and had to replace fluids, not take a piss."
