They can film ,record in a public place all in the name of public safety but if a citizen does the same thing in the interest of Constitutional rights it's illegal. What get's me is why would they have a problem with it unless they were afraid of getting caught in the wrong IE: the subway shooting. What the cops aren't getting is it's their Constitutional rights that they are helping to erode as well.

Edit: Case in point granted this was a surveillance camera and the suspect is a pos thug but rights are rights. It makes you wonder!

I'd feel a lot better about the second video if the asshole with the camera and his dipshit wife had left the kid(s) at home. There was absolutely no reason to have them there, and it was nothing short of irresponsible since both parents knew what could possibly happen.

That being said.......I think there are far too many cops who have forgotten who they work for, and what they are paid to protect. The US Constitution > Officer safety. Especially when there were 2 other officers watching the first officer's back. It also seems (from the second video) that these cops are very well versed in their local rules, but have completely forgotten what we all learned in 4th grade. The fact that he (officer #2) would go inside a place of business to promote a trespassing violation (after he was the one who ordered the guy onto public property), but completely ignore the very first item of the US Constitution proves that there are some glaring problems with officer training. He's not fit to wear a uniform in public.

Both sides are assholes. But as long as there are cops who don't know their jobs, there will be douchebags with cameras up their asses. It's a problem that only the police can fix, and it starts with them. If they all knew their jobs, the idiots with the cameras would go away, as there would be nothing interesting for anyone to see.

No prison time - four officers were fired and three were criminally charged. Of the three officers charged, two plead no contest to a Class A misdemeanor and received two years probation; the third officer (Andrew Blomberg) went to trial and was subsequently acquitted of the charges. The only person that went to jail in that video was Chad Holley. What I find interesting, is the question of how Blomberg managed to get an all-white jury in a county where whites are the minority.

Edit: Here's the second video of Holley's arrest; the angle of footage shows Holley's hands more clearly. Also the fourth officer that was fired was also charged with a Class A misdemeanor. He was found guilty and was handed down a two year probation sentence and a $1,000 fine - a similar sentence to the two officers that plead no contest.

Ridiculous. That was Felony Battery if it was anything. They should have had serious prison time for disgracing the badge alone....plus the beating. And at that point, they are a gang.
