I was heading from Biloxi MS to New Orleans back in '09 and gut stuck in traffic. I was about 10 cars back from the stop light that kept letting 1 car go...there was a "homeless" guy on the corner. After what seemed like an eternity(was probably 10 minutes) of him not getting any dough...he walked behind the bush on the corner and rode back out on a newer model Kawasaki Ninja. He definitely looked the part. I've been pretty leery about giving them money since then..as a few have mentioned, I'll buy food, and it's often turned down.

Re: Closed due to paying customers.
lol.....He was panhandling for insurance money and a new Vance and Hines pipe. The tip off was he was using his custom painted helmet to collect the cash. Poor guy......he just can't afford an Aprilia.
If it truly was his last posession (which I would bet not), maybe it's time to sell. Take the money, and rebuild. Either way, giving him cash isn't the answer, and never is when it comes to panhandlers.SmokenScion liked this post

Re: Closed due to paying customers.
Not the same. As a worker, you pay into Unemployment insurance. As a begger, one wouldn't pay anything in.
Unemployment Insurance helps keep your house value up. If a bunch of your neighbors were out of work for six months or so, your house wouldn't be worth as much because every other house on the block would be lowering their sale prices. The idea is to help keep those who produce as stable as possible, so they can keep producing ( or at least get back to producing). It's certainly not a handout, and it benefits you when your neighbor is collecting it.

Some people are desperate and are forced to lower themselves to begging. Nobody on this forum knows who that person is, if that is even his bike, or WHY he is begging. Maybe he is between jobs and needs food for his family. Maybe the bike is for sale already. We don't know...
Either way, I would rather have people begging than turning to crime or violence.

People collecting unemployment are NOT the same as beggars. Not even close. Maybe you should see what it is like to go from making a decent salary to making no salary and try to maintain your home and life while you are between jobs. If you had to pull out of your retirement, sell your car or boat, and take huge steps backwards just because you are temporarily out of work, you would fucking hate it.
Also, unemployment doesn't pay much, but it sure helps for those that need it.
