This is what a good School Administrator does. This is the opportunity that was completely missed. This is much better than calling a compassionate little girl into the office, and punishing her.

Apples/oranges. Based on the fact that it isn't mentioned I am assuming the girl that actually had cancer didn't even go to the school in question. I am sure there are kids all over with cancer, but I have plenty of friends that are teachers and administrators with full heads of hair. I am pretty confident that if one of their students were to get cancer they would do something similar.

Oh, and another also, do you know how much shit I tried to get away with in the name of "compassion" and "science" when I was in school? If they just took every kid at their word that the tribute they were making was because of compassion for a friend then there would be no rules at all.

Not really. They had the opportunity to not only praise one of their own for doing a very compassionate thing, but also the opportunity to raise awareness, and maybe help raise some dough. Instead, they sat a little girl down, and punished her. I may just be a dumb-ass electrician, but I bet that wouldn't happen on my watch. It's not rocket science to see the wrong in the way this case was handled.

Re: Girl Banned from School After Shaving Head to Support Friend with Cancer
Knowing you....I would love to hear some storys. I bet you were a handful.
I just think the Administrator should have made the right call from the start....long before he sat an innocent little girl down, and sent her home. Parents could have been called and storys could have been checked. If nothing else, this coward could have made a stand, and would have had the entire country behind him, as well as his own school board who folded like a wet napkin at the first news report. If we tie the hands of the administrators to the point that they can't make a call on a hairstyle, why have them at all?
