Read carefully. The UNINTENDED consequence of an action is never more power. What was the purpose of the U.S. in going into Iraq and Afghanistan? It was to exercise its´ power over these two countries. Topple Saddam. Topple the Talibs. The U.S. half assed it; it needed to stay for much longer but it didn´t. The puppet governments were put in power (like we´ve seen the U.S. do many times around the globe in the last 60 years) but the backing was not there. Who says it´s over? I estimate that the U.S. will be back there in coming years. The U.S. already intervened again in Iraq 1 day ago. Intervention in both of these countries has not stopped and will not stop until the "right" people are put in power.

We have been in more wars then the last few. I asked what countries we have more influence in after we went to war.

You also seem to be confused afgan and iraq were actually two separate wars. Iraq was to topple saddam but what was the power gain you say we went there for? We gained no power in iraq. Afgan was a war against terrorists. We never fought afgan so its hard to find what power we gained with that.

Those puppet governments were put in for them to collect themselves and get an election together. How do we gain power by letting them elect the guy we were dealing with out of office? Now i think you may have jumped completely off the rails. You actually think we wont stop until the right people are in power in iraq while our only intervention is a couple bombing strikes against ISIS. Thats boarder line tin foil hat material right there.
