printable lower reciver
Desktop device to make key gun part goes on sale in US - Tech News | The Star Online
WASHINGTON: The creator of the world's first 3D plastic handgun unveiled Wednesday his latest invention: a pre-programmed milling machine that enables anyone to easily make the core component of a semi-automatic rifle.
Within a matter of hours, libertarian Cody Wilson of Austin, Texas had collected more than 40 pre-orders for the computer-controlled Ghost Gunner, which his firm Defense Distributed is selling online for US$1,199 (RM3,918).

Re: printable lower reciver
You can't print ALL the parts.. and milling isn't really "printing".
What this does isn't fully creating the part either. It's turning a "blank" that's 80% done into a fully working lower.
Anything more than 80% is considered a working lower and is regulated.

Re: printable lower reciver
Respectfully disagree. The AR lower takes very little abuse due to the recoil springs size and travel. It is almost impossible to wear out a standard lower receiver and even if you were to after hundreds of thousands of rounds it would be because you bought a cheap and or older version not equipped with anti rotating pins. The failure at that point is elongated pin holes. If this were not the case it would be impossible to fire the .458 SOCOM off of the AR lower.

Re: printable lower reciver
I can go buy a stack of lower receivers and be back home in under an hour. I have two lowers waiting for me to spend the money to build them out. The only reason this is kind of a big deal is because the lower has the serial number. You can buy all the rest of the parts without a background check. If someone really wants the AR I doubt printing one would be the choice of obtaining the lower.
