I''m more surprised that they announced it. You would think that if your people are tasked with securing airlines against such things you wouldn't go "HEY! WE SUCK DICK AT WHAT WE DO! LOOK AT US NOT DOING WELL!!!"

Yeah, the path of the announcement is weird.

But a lot of people who think about these things have been calling the TSA "Security Theatre" for more than a decade.

Now that I think about it, the story itself is weird. The problem with the TSA has never been that they do a bad job. That's just a side-show. I suppose it'd be nice if they didn't suck, but the problem is that the money is misspent and the assets are misplaced.

Whether they do or don't catch every container of liquid that is greater than 3.00 ounces is uninteresting to just about everyone.
