“I feel quite betrayed. It’s been on Facebook that everyone is going to come. And we show up, and everyone just craps out,” he said. “You come up here, ready to get killed if we have to and these people are just on Facebook about it."

They aren't wrong. The BLM is taking land from people in both TX and OK along the red river. This is land that people have paid for, and paid taxes on, for decades, and now they are just supposed to had it over no questions asked? Their methods may not be ideal, but then again what exactly are you supposed to do when if you say no you are considered a criminal?

They have no choice. Read some of the longer details about the Oregon case. They supposedly had a choice, but those who chose not to sell out had their grazing permits pulled, then had their water restricted while it was diverted to neighboring lakes that were flooding. TLDR the BLM just says, "We want this land." then does whatever they have to do to take it.

If you run across any (reasonably) concise breakdowns of the TX/OK Red River situation, or the Oregon case, I'd be interested in a link.
I know that sometimes this is just a naked power thing, but sometimes these stories present themselves in a way that makes me think that I'm not hearing about the other side of the coin.

Full Story About What’s Going on In Oregon – “Militia” Take Over Malheur National Wildlife Refuge In Protest to Hammond Family Persecution… | The Last Refuge
That is a lengthy article that hits many points over the last 100 or so years. It is by no means unbiased, but is one of the few I have seen that has that much detail. As for Texas, the BLM claims deeds that were issued decades ago never should have been, and now is a convenient time to "take back" thousands of acres from people who have paid for them and paid taxes on them all that time.

Re: No one came to the facebook event :/
It is driving me insane that these fucking retards calls themselves "militiamen" and that the rest of us assholes and the media just go along with it and say, "hey yeah they're white, wearing camo and have American flags, they must be "militiamen" instead of calling them the fucking terrorists, or white secessionists or just morons with guns that they are.
The government should have shut the senior Bundy's ass down during the cattle protest and nipped this thing right in the bud. They should have taken away his cattle and thrown his ass in prison as quick as they would railroad a minority who is carrying half a gram of weed in South Texas. The government rolled over and now these idiots think they have an actual leg to stand on.
The first comment in that linked PBS article is pretty much all you need to hear about the matter:

I am the daughter of a Nevada cattle rancher who fought for
the rights of ranchers. My father was no fan of the federal government and
particularly the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). If he were still alive, he’d
be shocked and embarrassed at the antics of Ammon Bundy and his followers.
These self-anointed saviors of the U.S. Constitution only besmirch western
ranchers. The invasion of Bundy and his bunch to a community that doesn’t want
them only creates an atmosphere where ranchers’ real grievances are
overshadowed by the media frenzy an armed group of intruders generates. In the
long haul, this conduct does a great disservice to the ranchers these
gun-toting outsiders profess to help. I live in Oregon now and I, like the
residents of Harney County, don’t want you here. We can solve our own problems.

As I said, I do not support the methods, but what other options do the ranchers truly have? The family in Oregon has been losing more and more access to the resources they rely on to raise cattle, and even access to their own land. The rancher in Texas is potentially about to lose half of his land that has been in his family for 70 years including his home. He also is unable to use his land as collateral for loans and such because of the possibility he may lose it. I guess these people should just trust that the government will "do the right thing" as opposed to protesting in any way?
