The reason they didn't force the negotiations is because there are no protections in place for these negotiations so any that do happen, happen slow. This is all market speculation, increase the cost to inflate the mean and then keep pressure on suppliers. That pressure will burst eventually and we'll all see price drops across the board, but just like the negotiations, it's going to take some time. Hopefully, by that time, there will be protections in place so these money markets... cough cough, hospitals and pharma, start showing profits that reflect true operational/material costs and not those of the company stores.
When i say services i mean the whole ball of wax. Its a never ending spiral with the entire industry. Supplies raise their prices, hospitals raise theirs, which in turn means providers have to increase theirs. The supplies however aren't the major key in this mess, the hospitals are. Just as an example the average room costs 6 grand a night, then you pay 1 grand for every doctor that comes in and checks your chart or pulse, plus nurses fees, 20 dollar band aids, 15 grand for 2 hour use of an OR, the list goes and goes. Thats not supplier, its not provider, its the only industry that rivals oil in profits. They make so much in profits that i've done remodels because they have to spend the money knowing full well next year they start construction on a new building 5 blocks away. So i may hate my provider for their cost but i make no mistake in knowing why they charge so much.

No where else in the world can you leave a hospital and owe over 1 million for a surgery and short stay. Thats not supplier or provider costs. They know they're so crooked at this point that they separate hospital bill from everything else. So you can ask for a total while at the hospital for pre screening and what they will give you is strictly the hospital costs. You'll get the bills from everyone else later but they wont tell you that.

And meanwhile at my local county hospital, there is a line of illegal alians waiting for some truly free to them healthcare. How many folks who aren't supposed to be here am I supporting again? How much does that come to each year, and from whos pocket?
For me this is one of the big keys that separates us from EU and Canada. How many impoverished illegal aliens are swimming a river or climbing a wall into the UK every day? Many citizens in the UK are concerned about how they are going to afford a few hundred thousand Syrian refugees, and we have somewhere between 10 and 20 million illegals here, depending on who you choose to believe, that get "free" services. If that doesn't make the US even slightly different than the countries everyone likes to compare us to then I guess I will bow out of this discussion due to my lack of understanding basic math.

The doctors are the providers. Its a dicey industry and it needs to be flushed.

Fair enough. Realistically though, you have to agree that these problems started when we brought the capitalist mindset into the healthcare industry. The doctors don't run the show anymore, they are peons like the rest of us. I can't remember the guy that runs the cancer treatment centers, but from what I can recall...ah fuck it looking now.

    https://www.linkedin.com/in/gerardvangrinsven this guy.

This guy runs one of the most profitable medical centers in the country and he has fuck all experience in the medical industry. What does he have experience in? Filling beds and running kitchens. Maybe if he was a Dr forced to push pills from big pharma he'd remember how out of control it felt. Maybe he'd remember his early years treating patients who make the choice to feed their kids instead of removing their own hernia. It's a god damn shame, but these penny pushers are the ones running things, and we the people let this shit happen.

I think we agree on this.
