I am pretty sure Obama told everyone we would get better coverage at lower rates. Is there anyone who supported the AFA before it was implemented that can justify it now?

This is what happens when we let the gov't "fix" things. Double didget premium increases on policys that many cant't afford to use. My health insurance is more than my car payment, and I can't afford to use it because of the deductables. Luckily, I'm able to pay for shitbags coverage rather than my own.

I wonder if the fucktards that passed it have read it yet. Vote Democrat if you want more of the same. They alone own this shit.

I have been bitching about ACA since its inception and people just ate it up like it was a gift from heaven. The more intelligent said from the beginning it was designed to fail to cram universal healthcare down our throats. I cannot believe it has taken this long for people to realize the shit we have been force fed. If anyhting, please let this sway votes away from those that created this mess.

Like with anything, there are advantages and disadvantages. For me, personally, I am paying a lot more, almost twice as much. I guess I can't really complain because my salary has more than doubled over the past 5-6 years. Before I got married, I had to face some issues with healthcare costs because my wife's job was not offering any and electing to pay the penalty. This forced my wife to sign up for affordable healthcare, which turned out to be NOT as bad as it would have seemed.

She was paying a lot. I mean, about 1.5x what I was paying, and for lesser coverage, but we did it because she had insurance and it gave us peace of mind. Her company didn't offer it, which was shitty, but it is my wife's choice to stay with said employer. After we got married, I put her on my plan, and we were saving a little bit, but not much compared to the affordable care plan.

A year later, her work started offering 100% coverage for medical, dental, and vision, so I dropped her from my plan and am now saving about $200/month, which is great news! I guess her employer got tired of people leaving with the #1 reason being "lack of benefits". The company can absolutely afford to pay the healthcare for employees. They were just electing to be greedy and to keep more money flowing to the top instead of paying for benefits to their workers. Lots of companies should follow this practice, but most do not. Keep in mind, her company is a small business with less than 50 employees, so small businesses can ABSOLUTELY do this.

Now my parents are having some mixed concerns with the affordable care plans. On one hand, since they run a corporation and take a salary from said corporation, they can qualify for the tax benefits provided. On the other hand, the prices are still going up.

My mother was also diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, and it put her out of work for several months, causing her to lose her job, even with FMLA protection (she is in sales, and her sales numbers went down and was termed due to performance). The GOOD thing is that since she was diagnosed with PAH and has a per-existing condition, she was able to get qualifying coverage with her new employer so that she can continue paying for her medications and treatments. Medications for PAH are both oral and infused, and if she was having to pay out of pocket, she would be paying upwards of $100k/year to keep her alive, and probably another $60k/year in just doctor visits. With insurance, she just pays her deductible.

I work for Big Pharma... for a Specialty Medication Pharmacy, so say what you want about them, but the business is incredibly lucrative, the meds take millions upon millions for research, years of trials before they can even be sold, and often take 5 years or more before a drug manufacturer sees dollar 1. Meds are expensive so these companies can stay open for business.

Anyways, that is my ramble. I'm not completely satisfied, but I am not completely dissatisfied. From my personal family impact, my mom would probably be on her death bed or my parents would have had to sell their house, but she is instead able to work and contribute to society. So again, pros and cons.

Its always been advertised that the research is astronomical. I don't think anyone argues that. The problem with Big Pharma is the same problem we have with local toll roads. We advertise a toll on these roads until they're paid for and then once they're paid for, we keep the tolls. They don't want to scratch the revenue from the forecasts, so we in turn pay for the damn "road" forever. Big Pharma, just like the states and the toll roads, are financing research and future development from existing widgets. I've read the financial statements for a lot of these companies and you can't tell me that the large players aren't doing this. How many dick pills does one need :P
