The point is you can throw all the "logic" and "reason" you want around, and people, by nature, still make illogical and unreasonable decisions. Expecting anything different is not very logical and reasonable.

Also, what is an acceptable age? Acceptable by whom? You, them, the government, the general population? What if your acceptable age is 15, but your son/daughter thinks it is 13? Then what? Are you going to use logic and reason on them? Well, based on the previous posts made by some we can't control our sexual desires, so when your child feels it is right, regardless of their age or your desires, then it IS right.
I haven't, but I do know some people who have.

You're absolutely right that people will be stupid and make bad choices even when they are educated. However, the fact is that abstinence, by itself, has never been comprehensively proven to reduce STD rates or the rates of teen pregnancy. At the same time, comprehensive sex education HAS been proven in numerous studies and real examples in many different countries to greatly reduce both STD rates and the rate of teen pregnancy, and in fact even reduces the age of sexual initiation in some cases.
Thats just assinine. Sex ed is an attempt at lowering the spread of std's and teen preganacy. Abstinence however is refraining from sex to begin with. Which gives a 0 teen pregnancy rate and almost 0 std rate. I'm curious at to how your logic formed the conclusion you gave.
