To add, I would more readily kill a human before I would kill a dog, especially if it has done nothing wrong.....

Oh I'll hunt. But only something I intend to eat/use.

My take on the human/dog distinction is that humans know better and still, in my mind, are scum. In my opinion, dogs especially, have an innocence about them. As you can tell, I am a dog lover.

I have many friends there and they are all great people... so this next remark should not be construed as prejudiced... but for the most part, the citizens of that island treat it like crap. There are many exceptions to the rule, of course. But in general, it's one of the most naturally beautiful places I've been, and rendered one of the most ugly I've seen by the incessant litter, graffiti, and other problems. They also drive like maniacs. They (again, the majority) don't want to be a state because of the responsibility that comes with it, as far as I can tell.

Of course, there are plenty of parts of USA that are full of litter and graffiti and "other problems"... so who's to say no?
