When both 'sides' point the finger at the other one it looks like little kids in a pissing contest. When you egg it on with that sort of speech it doesn't do anything great, thus it does it a disservice that instead of trying to work together and just saying 'that guy sucks' you say 'oh I bet if he were R/D he would be X'.

Yes the guy sucks, but it doesn't matter what party he is in, just that he sucks.
