    GOP not so Popular

needed a shortened title, so don't start getting hissy fit over it. They quite popular with many of the people on their side, but the people as a whole, well the article brings up good points:

The findings, unveiled at a Tuesday morning panel by the group, highlight a major challenged faced by Republicans headed into the 2010 election cycle: While their base appears more motivated than that of the Democrats, they will have to find ways to address hot-button issues like healthcare, immigration and climate change that do not alienate critical independent and swing voters.

Among respondents who identified themselves as Republicans, however, support for a repeal-and-replace strategy was 67 percent, compared to 36 percent among independent respondents.

Slightly more popular overall and with independents was an “amend and modify” approach to the overhaul, which 37 percent of respondents supported, including 43 percent of independents...
will hold my tongue for now and just ask what your opinion is on both the poll and the GOP stances?

Polls are commonly untrustworthy. What was the geography of their sample? Was it one state? 1000 likely Conservative/Republican voters could have come from a single subdivision in Alabama and would not represent the entirety if center-right voters who think the Gov't is spending too much cash.

The "journalist" who wrote this piece did a poor job of framing the results of the poll with irresponsible sentences like "Republican voters want Congress to repeal the healthcare overhaul, aren’t convinced that climate change is happening, and don’t think illegal immigrants should have a way to become citizens or that President Barack Obama has improved the United States’ global standing – all stances that put them at odds with the majority of voters"

Really? All of them? Which Republican voters?

    Pollsters + journalists = misleading.

Agreed, plus you have to add in the ever changing opinions on everything by a large population of the voting public in general.

I do feel that the public is at least starting to realize that the two party system might not be in their best interests overall finally. We will see what happens though.
