US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has warned North Korea must face international consequences over the sinking of a Southern warship in March.
My question is: with all of the sanctions already imposed upon North Korea, what's there left to do diplomatically?

I will not claim to have the answer or at this point even a suggestion but I am in fear that we will have to deal with NK in the near future.
A good first step would be a well trained marine and a .50 from about a mile away.

Yeah, the only real option I can think of is for China to impose sanctions and cut off aid, which I don't think is likely. I wonder if China would stay out of the war this time if the armistice ends (even though due to the torpedo attack, it technically already has)?

Re: Clinton warns North Korea on sinking of South's ship
i don't see them aiding north korea overtly.. they have too much to lose
honestly i don't see this going much further than it already has, i dont think anyone really wants to fight a war over this
north korea would have to do more i think to trigger anything 'big'
edit: although ship sinkings do seem to be a pretty common instigation for war, especially in american history

Absolutely nothing will be done.
China openly aids NK. They have no concern of anything to lose!
N. Korea kidnaps S. Koreans and Japanese citizens on a regular basis! Even SK soldiers patrolling the DMZ are regualrly kidnapped!
Back in the late 70's, two work crews, one US the other NK, went into the DMZ to clear brush. The NK crew attacked the US crew and killed several, including a US LT who was chopped up with an ax. NOTHING was done!
Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that a NK sub could operate in that area without being tracked.
A SK or US sub should stalk and sink a NK sub.Last edited by Sgt.TmH; 05-21-10 at 04:23 PM.
