Quit making excuses for them. This rig received 18 citations for safety hazards, yet they continued to drill, and drill, and drill... Not my fault, yet I am one of many that will have to pay for their mistakes. If the oil does reach the gulf coast of Florida in the Tampa/St.Pete area, I will be one of many going to help clean up. I never said ALL oil drilling needs to stop. They just need to regulate it better so these mistakes do not happen.
And don't get fooled into thinking the global economy is dependent on oil. As soon as replacements become available, people will begin to invest in those options just as they are investing in oil now. The economy will adapt. Until then, we can continue letting the oil companies rake us over the coals... we have no choice.

Re: Oil Spill Pictures
Ok, if that's the case, then why would we remove regulations that ensure the safety of the environment and oil workers on wells that were that far out; instead of allowing more closer in-shore/shallow drilling? I am one for less gov't interaction but sometimes a few rules to protect are necessary, the government could have still imposed regulations for safety and all without imposing themselves or taking over. Someone has to enforce rules and regs otherwise you get shit like this, companies get lax and explosions happen.

All i hope with this, is that the U.S. taxes and fines the shit outta the brits for this catastrophy, Not only will this ruin ecosystems its going to stop all fishing. Which means we lose a main source of food except for the fish farms, but even then the price will go extremely high for everything. So like i was saying all i hope is that we tax and fine the shit outta them and raise our national debt.
