Re: Government Spending? Waste not, want not? YouCut program...
I'm pretty sure they're actually suggesting that the majority of economists, when they look at how economies work, suggest spending out of a recession instead of risking even worse economic troubles by saying "ok economy, just stop for a sec, and I'll restart you later on when I've caught my breath" because economies don't do that. The economic system of the planet's lone superpower is more complicated than your credit card bill.
To any economics majors/enthusiasts we have out there: Do you know how our extensive borrowing from the Chinese is going to effect the value of their currency? I know that they keep it artificially depressed so that the rest of the world grows ever more dependent on China for imports. Also, if we devalue our currency vs. theirs with all of this borrowing, do we wind up helping American exports vs. Chinese exports a little bit, or does it not have any difference?Last edited by Toad; 07-09-10 at 08:00 PM.

Lone super power? What decade are you living in? China is kicking our ass and India is on the way.
When Western European governments are warning US to reign in spending, that's frightening, LOL
