Re: The Cost of Pro Sports...Economically Speaking...
Talk about putting words in my mouth.......seriously.
So only Socialism taxes sports players.....because they make a lot of money.......good to know. I guess in Chicago, all the really have is the Hawks (which they should be VERY proud of) and of course DA! BEARS,so I can see where you would get the idea. Here, in a decent city,we have many industries for people to earn scads of cash....not just sports teams.
And as for who makes the money in Pro Sports......it aint the players, it's the guy who writes their check. If you really want to make some coin, learn to drive a car.......Michael Schumacher made a decent living.

Dex,
I stand corrected, well kinda. If the state charges a state income tax then athletes have to pay it when they play in that state, whether they live there or not. If they live in a state that has a state income tax, and the state they play in does not, they pay it to the state they live in for those games. If however they live in a state with no state income tax, and play in another state with no state income tax, then they pay no extra state income taxes to either state.
Athletes have to pay income taxes to states that they play in on the road, so the games he'll play away from home -- whether he played for Cleveland or Miami -- are essentially a wash. But there are, on average, 11 away games per season where James would have to pay Ohio and Cleveland taxes. Why? Because he has to pay when he plays in the six areas - Florida, Texas, Washington D.C., Illinois, Toronto and Tennessee - that have no jock taxes.
