Another reason why some countries go to war is the belief in racial superiority. This is what is going on in Africa right now, and has gone in the past in Europe. Ultimately though, the wars are fought for land and power, but get wrapped up with religious overtones so that the people in charge will have an easier time to convince the masses that the war is a good thing. It goes the same with racial superiority as well.

The catalyst is greed. Greed for power....pure and simple. Whether it's the money that land brings, or the control over people, it boils down to greed. Everything else is just a label.
Money,Power,and Greed cause wars......If you took religion completely out of the picture,there would still be wars.

Greed doesn't get the masses to fight. Religion is what got the masses to fight. Take away the religious reasoning for going to war, and you then don't have much of a fighting force, do you? If the religious leadership condones going to war, then that religious leadership and it's religion are complicit.
