Re: Do they have the right?
Oh and for the record.. yes, they have the right (re: the original topic). I wouldn't even give a shit if they built it smack dab ON ground Zero. But if we're gonna put up such a stink about them building one 2 blocks away, I sure as fuck better not see a christian church spring up out of the soil of ground zero.

Re: Do they have the right?
St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church was actually destroyed when tower one came down, that is how close it was to ground zero. There is a church on the NE side of ground zero which is called St. Paul's (Episcopalian). Ironically enough, the street its' on is called "Church Street" and further South it turns into "Trinity Lane" where Trinity Church is located 3 (very small NY) blocks SE of ground zero. (past Cedar and Thames on Rector St.) St. Peter's (Roman Catholic) is one block to the North past ground zero on the east side of Church Street. Lower Manhattan Community Church is 1/2 block East off Church Street on Day Street.
Ironically enough, the Southern portion of ground zero is bordered by a street called "Liberty St". Church Street also merges into Avenue of the Americas (6th Ave). One block to the west of where Ave of the America's meets Canal St. (known for Little Italy) is St. John's Park.
Close to ground zero...on one of these streets...is the perfect place to put a mosque. As it is right now, the new location is 2 blocks North of ground zero and 1/2 block West of Church St on Park Place. (Google map it: 45–51 Park Place, Manhattan, New York City, U.S.) If other churches are okay to be in this area, re-build the Greek Orthodox church, build a brand new Synagogue and put this mosque right next to them. Maybe if all these religions learned how to play nice with each other, we would stop having tragedies like 9/11 and stupid f-ing wars.Last edited by (4)manno; 08-19-10 at 12:49 AM.
