And that is exactly what I am talking about - you'd think that 2-3 hours after this posted at Salon, the only other place that I see this directly referenced is HuffPo (hardly a good source).

And, just searched again - Salon and HuffPo are still, really, the only ones running with this. So, either it is not an actual happening. Or....there is a huge cover-up among the media to protect racist, bigoted, anti-muslim 'mericans (though I think that fairly unlikely given their history).

So.....we wait some more. See what shakes out.

And speaking of bigots, nice wording when describing the two buildings....I love how the Islamic center is peaceful and progressive, while the Christian church building is hateful and extremist......you are the very same person that you are calling out with this post.

I don't give a shit what they (Islamic, Christian, Atheist, _______) build there, so long as they have the proper permits and follow the law.
I just copied the title of the Salon article, which used the word bigot. And you have to notice the context in which I used those other words, too. The proposed Islamic community center was on that would be open to all people, regardless of religion, and focus on mutual understanding. That's not saying all followers of Islam are peaceful or progressive, I'm just referring to those ones. Same with the Christian church. Not all Christians are hateful or extreme like that nutjob Bill Keller, and I wasn't making a sweeping statement.

As for the polls, one was about the RIGHT to build it, which everyone agreed they did, and the other was whether you would be ok with a mosque near you. No poll asked if you were ok with the community center at the current location. The vibe I got was many people agreed they had the right, but didn't think it was a good idea for whatever reason.

Yeah, I know. I'll find one eventually. Maybe an Alabama one?

Other than that Salon.com article though, I see nothing elsewhere in the news about this. Perhaps that might be a valid reason why you see "no outrage". Perhaps you just have your ear that much closer to the ground than the rest of us Fov. Who knows. I am sure that if this is legit and the mainstream picks it up you'll see the "outrage" you want so badly.

Point of interest though - as Rock stated - only 5 people disagreed with building the mosque at it's proposed location.

And really - the language you used was for what purpose then? Inflammation?
Mainly to provoke discussion. I happened to read it this morning and thought it would make an interesting discussion about a possible double standard that may arise from people who are ardently opposing the Islamic community center. Will these people have the same outrage? Will this lead to people going out and committing arson against a new church, like what happened with the new mosque being build in Tennessee? The question is, if all things were equal, do you think we would see the same level of outrage?
