Obama reality sets in
"Obama did concede he had learned "tactical lessons" about mistakes he had made, such as letting himself be cast as "the same old tax-and-spend liberal Democrat," realizing too late as he sought to pump stimulus money into the economy that there was "no such things as shovel-ready projects," and that perhaps he should have left it to the Republicans to push the tax breaks that he had proposed as part of the stimulus so that the package would have some appearance of bipartisan compromise."
Obama Says He's Accomplished Much, but Concedes His Message Has Fallen Short
"Most of all, he has learned that, for all his anti-Washington rhetoric, he has to play by Washington rules if he wants to win in Washington."

Pretty good story. Not an Obama fan myself but its a good read for those on boths sides of the fence.

Re: Obama reality sets in
It wasn't meant to be a flame war. People have been saying since before he got elected that he didn't have the experience the job required. Some feel that to be acurate others feel it may have been time to have someone that doesn't have it. Of course there are other options for that discussion but those i believe were the primaries at the time.
He learned the hard way that it wasn't going to be a walk in the park dealing with life time politicains. He may have been exspecting that but the fact he would mention it should lead everyone to the conclusion that the problem is far bigger then most would care to acknowledge.

Which, if he doesn't get another 4 years, won't stop "the haters" from calling him a failure president and terrible for the country, etc. Kind of like what happened to Carter (pissed off the "establishment" and they basically just stopped working for him).
In fact most of it makes me think Obama could of learned more from past presidents. The having to play by Washington rules? Carter knows ALL TOO WELL about that. And now the article says he is going to "re-brand" which is what Clinton had to do to win another 4 years.
That is actually one of the things right in the anti-left ads, it isn't Obama's agenda but the party leaders agenda. In 2012 the party "agenda" or party line will be what Obama sets. Just like in 2000 the Republicans agenda was set by their leaders, and 04 it was set mostly by Bush.

Re: Obama reality sets in
The system is fundamentally fucked up. I didnt want Obama to win but in all honesty i hoped he would be able to make some changes in it. He spoke tough about dealing with lobbists but then put one in his staff. It's actually a damn shame that its going to take a complete over turn of our government to fix it. To many looking out for their own pocket instead of doing the job the were hired to do.
