If saying that he was a KKK member made it a KKK backed issue Doesn't that also say if he was a member of a Cristian Chruch at one point in his life mean it is a Christian backed issue? If he was a member of the PTA it is a PTA backed issue, if he was in the armed forces it is a Military backed issue?

No it doesn't. It means he was a kkk member that joined several other groups that are non affiliated.

If you say that becasue a member of the KKK said something then the KKK is behind it then you are also saying that anytime a member of your church says something that your church is behind what ever they said.
