The biggest problem, as I've long said, is our two-party, first-past-the-pole system. It should be multiple parties and proportional representation. If we don't change the system, the atmosphere will never change.

Well it doesnt help when people in high office, like the President for one example, say "It's not about red and blue states, but the United States" then invest tons of political capital making sure blue states stay blue and blue districts stay blue and tries like the dickens to limit the growth of red states and red districts...that is bald-faced hypocrisy. I agree that the 2-party system marginalizes those in the middle or those with blended beliefs and political philosophies, but when our leaders who pledge to bridge the gap spend their time building walls and hold onto the us-vs-them mentality ... that's pretty damned frustrating. THAT is what I honestly hoped Obama would change...but he has not...it's like he got in office, somebody gave him the play-book and he is going through the motions.

When he offered to work with both parties, it wasn't the president that told the others to basically "shove it". It's not his party that made it their strategy to filibuster every piece of legislation that came into the halls of Congress. So what should he do? Work to ensure that more of his opponents can stall more of his agenda's legislation, or work to fill the seats with those that are in agreement with his agenda, or rather won't try to stall everything that he supports, with no compromise?
