So, what about those who truly do use it for medicinal use? There is not a single system anywhere that is not abused by somebody...

I agree with it for medical use, but no, I don't agree with using prescription drugs as a backdoor for recreational use, and the "every system is broken, so why not add another" excuse isn't really good enough. If this were a few users gaming the system, then that would be one thing, but it seems like the distributors and the doctors are in on it too in a systematized way. Hell, the fact that you get to pick out varieties by their street names highlights how much of a joke it is. If there's a case to be made for legalizing it, then do it, above the level. If you can't do that, then you need to make a stronger case. Loopholes are for crooks.

MJ is an excellent pain killer that can often be useful because it is usually burned and inhaled as opposed to ingested or injected.
Additionally, no overdosing is possible and its side effect of increased hunger can be useful in patients who are suffering from lack of appetite.
I am not saying it is a wonder drug or even that it should be commonly prescribed. I am just saying that it has its uses and keeping doctors from prescribing this is kind of silly in light of some of the things they can prescribe.

    agreed

"prescription drugs as a backdoor for recreational use..." Completely agree with you, but hey, it's better than nothing tbh...

I personally would not take MJ if it was prescribed to me, but that's because I've heard horror stories about it interacting badly with other meds. For most people who aren't heavily medicated like I am, I can see it being a valid tool.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

Yeah, half of an ad on TV for a drug is taken up by all the warnings.
Me: "But the Gunslinger is so much more fun..."
Langrad: "We're here to win, not to..."
    Me: "Have fun?" "Hahaha"

I was describing correct medical use. Abuse of the system is a possibility, maybe even likely. But that happens now with current prescriptions too. I see that as a separate issue.
