Slave ships came into northern ports where slaves were transferred and shipped off to southern ports - AFTER slavery was outlawed in the north.

The nation as a whole, was complacent. To sit in the ivory tower of the north and speak disparagingly about the south's slavery problem is willfully ignorant. At least, that's my opinion. Slavery was and is F'ed up and indefensible. No denying that.
Come on, "Ivory Tower?" I expect better from you.

Maybe you ought to get a couple of diehard whack-jobs to do a "witch burning" re-enactment, just be sure to ignore the fact that people were called witches and killed that couldn't cast a spell or concoct a bedeviling brew....

Of my whole post you pull out one colloquialism and find trouble with that? Fine...to sit in the ivory tower smugly in the north and speak disparagingly about the south's slavery problem is willfully ignorant.

LOL - out of curiosity I looked up the origins of the phrase "ivory tower" and found a few variations of the same basic meaning...sheltered intellectual isolation. I think that describes many parts of the north...and the south.

Haven't we already had this argument, several times? Doesn't it ever get old?
