Even with the "safeguards" they only prevent people losing money they have in the banks, it doesn't stop banks from freezing all credit etc. The thought that "If the banks failed it be all rosy!!!" is incredibly inaccurate to the likely scenario.

No i dont think it would be all rosy if they did but i firmly believe no business is to big to fail. If that was reality then they can do whatever they want and we end up with what we have going on right now. What would it be like right now if the mentality of to big to fail never exsisted?

Going with the current system and beliefs you would probably be right. In fact you are right because those numbers do not reflect the actual amount of people unemployed. If things were done differently over the past 100 years who knows what it would be but hine sight is 20 20. So here we are with a bs system setup to protect the rich from ever becoming less then that and millions that will never get anywhere near them.
