The 2022 World Cup is going to be horrible unless FIFA really pushes on Qatar to lax their laws. Dry country, horrible press freedoms, hatred of Gays and Women, dislike of Jews, etc. And thats not even getting into the infrastructure question (how the hell are they going to host basically double their entire population, in one city?).

Anyone who watches Football (American), MMA, or wrestling has 0 reason to be calling soccer "gay."

Don't know if anyone else picked up on this but, Qatar is not a completely dry country, a few of their hotels that cater to European tourists have a bar. Army Marines and Air Force (I believe they still do at any rate) have a charter that goes there. Soldiers get a four day stay at a hotel two coupons a day for a beer or other drink and transportation to some 4 story mall. They have a more Jordian view of guests in that they do not enforce local custom/religion laws for tourists. I would put money on that had they allowed drinking at the game then folks from the nearby countries that are totalitarian about Islam would of boycotted the event, hence loosing money since neighboring countries would not of encouraged peeps to show up.
