Really 9.25 billion in the last three months of the year? Yeah the issue with gas prices clearly is the people that drive gas guzzlers and nothing to do with big oil being in control over the whole thing. What a crock of shit.

Maybe you missed the second section of the article, titled, "Increased Demand Boosted Margins."

I don't find it necessary to argue this but people will believe what they want when it comes to big business. It seems like no one ever learned the whole concept of supply and demand in elementary school....

Maybe you missed the second sentence where it ends with "as it produced more oil to take advange of higher prices."

See but we arent talking about a basic supply and demand item. This a natural resource that the worlds needs not wants. Hundreds of years ago i would agree with you but we have intergrated it into everything now.

I'm not following you. How is that different from any other company upping production to meet increased demand?

What does the fact that it's needed do to change the effects of supply and demand on pricing?

Edit: Also, there is certainly a degree of choice in our level of consumption. We don't need to tow boats to the lake every weekend or drive Hummers and Expeditions.

because they are the ones that slow production to create the demand. Why do you think it happens at the same times every year? Its not like the wells dry out for a bit then kick back in.

When they produce less (on purpose mind you) the price goes up. We have another natural resource that has supply and demand water. The government took control of it and regulates every bit of it that goes to homes and businesses. Of course that does not include the obvious like bottled water. They also control another resource electricity. Sure you get it thru your electric company but they cant change the prices without getting approval thru government. So why should oil be any different? Why should they be able to create the demand and jack up prices when they see fit?
