    Under review as of now.

The federal government will decide by March 1 whether to reject a CRTC decision on usage-based internet billing, after Prime Minister Stephen Harper requested a review.

Harper's communications director, Dimitri Soudas, confirmed the review Tuesday, saying the government was "very concerned" about the impact of the CRTC ruling on consumers.

Anyone else find it ironic that this is an issue? The internet was supposed to be free. Then they started charging for access to it. Now they want to charge per rate of information transfered? I dont know maybe because some of us were out of school before the internet ever showed up it makes it worse and now we have people that didn't know what it was like before the internet. LOL we use to have to actually go outside. Now if you so choose to you can never leave your house.

Ya, thats not gonna last long if it hits the US. Nothing better to unite the 'hats than a common enemy. Not to mention revolts from the common man on physical headquaters for ISPs.

LOL...from our apathetic, sit behind a keyboard, play video games since birth, don't even know how to communicate face to face society you are counting on a revolt based on something most of the people who overuse this internet thingy don't even pay the monthly access fee for ?? I think you are overrating the common man a LOT on this. Most will just say "shit, this sucks" ....pay more and try to figure out a way to keep their kids off the internet. That is IF something like this comes to fruition.

No, as I said before, any revolts from the common man are icing on the cake, minor additional incentives for the ISPs to revert protocol.

Yea that didn't last too long.

The CRTC must reverse its decision that ends unlimited internet access plans offered by smaller internet providers, or the federal government will intervene, Industry Minister Tony Clement says.

Asked by the CBC's Rosemary Barton through Twitter whether it's true that Clement would overturn that decision if the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission does not back down, the industry minister replied: "True. CRTC must go back to drawing board."
