Well, Paul always wins these straw polls because the Paulbots come out in force. He really has no chance at even winning the Republican primary, let alone the Presidential election. The teabaggers don't like him, the few moderate Republicans left don't like him, and the neocons don't like him. He would not be able to win over a majority of Americans, either. And if Ron Paul were a real libertarian, he wouldn't be in the Republican party voting right alongside them on things libertarians would hate. The truth is he may be libertarian-esque on economic issues, but he is solidly in the Palin camp when it comes to social issues.

Really though would you all be surprised if he got elected? I mean this past election it was all about "I'm better than the last guy....look how shitty he was", and it could very well go that way again. The American people do weird things sometimes...

They certainly do. Though I probably would be shocked if he won, I probably shouldn't be, judging by what the US voter has chosen in the past.
