Re: Official: BORDERS is DONE.
As tuned in to electronics and gadgets as I am, I don't see myself replacing my hardcover books with e-readers. I love the heft of books, the feeling of actually turning a page, the sound that it makes and even the smell of the book. It might sound silly to some, but reading books is a mental and tactile experience for me (and I am sure others as well).

I thought the same thing about albums - Pulling the album out, cleaning it on the turntable, reading the inside cover while it played, following along with the printed lyrics....but alas my 467 albums sit gathering dust with my 200 cassette tapes, while I listen to satellite radio instead. It's just a matter of time and you won't be able to buy books with the ease that you can now.

Re: Official: BORDERS is DONE.
I understand the point that you are trying to make.
However, the only difference is that to listen to an album requires the use of another device. One that got replaced by smaller and smaller devices. Audio purists still maintain that vinyl was/is the best sounding around. If vinyl albums had gotten smaller and smaller perhaps they'd still be around.
With books, I need no additional devices to read/enjoy them. They, themselves, are the device so to speak.

Understood....I was referring to the sentimental, ritualistic feeling of playing albums that parallels to how you previously said "I love the heft of books, the feeling of actually turning a page, the sound that it makes and even the smell of the book. It might sound silly to some, but reading books is a mental and tactile experience for me ". It sounds like you like reading books as much as I used to like playing albums.
