If you chose "In a relationship" or "Married," you could pick anyone, regardless of gender. But it never hurts to expand the options, I guess.

It was made a political issue by the people it affects most. They went on the mission of "raising awareness", and succeeded, and are succeeding. As well they should (IMO).
But they were the ones with the bumper stickers, not anyone else.
