Age does not make the distinction between someone that mentally health or disturbed. An 11 year old can very easily do harm to himself in the back of a police car or anywhere else for that matter. The cuffs are a preventative measure because if he did hurt himself in the back of a squad car the station, city, county, and or state would end up in a lawsuit. Thats not to mention everyone that thinks its so wrong for handcuffing him would be screaming how wrong the cops were for not doing after he hurt himself. Its a common sense deal not one that the cops were scared for their safety. Sad but nessecary this day in age.
