1. Where did I say the cops made the laws? You gonna tell me that EVERY time you pull someone over for speeding, or whatever traffic violation, you write them a ticket? You never give warnings? You never see a car going 10 MPH over the limit, but let them just keep going?
2. Protecting who? Me? What business is it of yours, or the government in general for that matter, if I want to die if I wreck my car?
Yet another reason I hate MANY cops, in most of their eyes everything is justified simply because they are the one with the badge, belt, cuffs, and gun. My nephew is FWPD, and I tell him the same stuff, so don't take it personal.

It sounded as if you were implying that it is the cops fault for writing you a ticket...like they make the laws. We just enforce the law that is before us. We dont think its justified because we have a badge, we know it's justified...because...well that is our job, to enforce the laws of your state and the US constitution.
I agree with you on the seatbelts. I hate the seatbelt law. In indiana, we have a seatbelt law, but no helmet law for bikes (im a biker also). I NEVER wear my helmet on my motorcycle, and I only sometimes wear my seatbelt. Me personally, its a moral issue. I do not write many seatbelt tickets, because I myself forget sometimes to put it on. But If I clock someone going 10-18 over, and pull them over, and they dont have a seatbelt on. If they are nice, and polite, I will write them the seatbelt ticket (25dollars) as opposed to the speeding ticket (130dollars). And most cops are like that.
If people only knew how much of a break we give them, especially in traffic law, I think they would be a little nicer to us. Most local and county cops will not pull you over unless you are going 12-20< over the speed limit. Lol, i was in court the other day, and the judge asked this guy "you are here for going 8 over??!?!? Get out of here, dismissed" I was laughing.
State cops on the other hand...lol...well lets leave it at that...

Hey Kraker, I had no idea you were a cop, I think that changes things because you obviously have more experience/knowledge about law enforcement. I don't want to get too far off the topic but I do have one question out of curiosity.....do police officers really have some quota as to how many tickets they should write a month? I don't think its true but a friend of mine told me to not speed at all towards the end of the month because cops are out to give tickets to meet their monthly quotas.

Dont kid yourself. A billion dollar industry has come from the issueing of tickets. It has long past the ideal of protect and serve. It has since evolved into set up some speed traps so we can continue a beuatification project or in these times met our budget. Why else would officer be issueing out tickets for 4 and 5 miles over the speed limit? Happens every day around here any more. Then they wonder why people dont like cops. Gee let me think it might be because they are acting like douches issueing fines to fund a city when everyone is going bankrupt.
