The senate passed a bill today that would suspend pay to congress and the president should a government shutdown happens. Personally I like it, not sure how a shutdown effects government workers, but if it effects there pay, then the people at the top should suffer as well. Non the less don't really see anything wrong with this.

So the next time that the Republicans don't get their way, they can cut the president off as well? Nice. United States federal government shutdown of 1995 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am a Federal Employee. My agency has said that is possible that I will be furloughed during this shutdown. I work for the DoD so I may stay working during this. They have not (as of this afternoon) released the list of who will get furloughed. I have a pretty good chance of being on the list of people who get to keep working because of who I work for. I have some savings and some leave saved up so hopefully, this will not be too bad. I just wish those fuckers in Congress could get their act together.

My dad is a federal employee as well and they area has already been talking about the possibility of being shut down. I'm not sure when he'll find out but he just started this job so he really doesn't have a lot of time saved up for this.

Meno, our contractors have been told they will still be going to work. Of course, they have full access to the SCIF and they have their taskers. As long as you have access to facilities, contractors should be OK.

I know my project is still going to start here in the next week. Government job doing flooring in a new VA hospital. I do like the new rule they started. In order to start the project you have to have an original birth certificate. If you dont have one you dont work on the project.
