Re: US Supreme Court allows anti-gay military funeral protests
In all cases of which I am aware the "protesters" are not permitted to be on the actual funeral grounds, and in fact in many places are required to be even out of shouting distance. In a few ugly cases they have been able to heckle those walking into the funeral, but I understand that to be earlier episodes before people understood what dicks they were.
In other words, if holding up signs and shouting things is now considered harassment, that sets a chilling precedent for protesting in general.Last edited by Beige Lantern; 03-02-11 at 08:03 PM.

See i would disagree. Its one thing to protest laws, companies, human right movements, so forth and a completely different thing to celebrate the death of a soldier by chanting he deserved to die in front of a grieving family. They are not the same and quite a despicable act. I for one on a jury would come back with a not guilt verdict if a family member killed one of these stupid fuckers.

man these Westboro people just dont know when to stop, its despicable that they are protesting soldier's funerals, the same soldiers that are fighting for their rights every day and protecting this country. On another note Im actually very surprised that the family hasnt turned around after the ruling, especially after that letter, and sued these people on the basis of slander or libel. Sure you can have your First Ammendment rights and say what you want, but you should be leaving yourself open to this kind of lawsuit by saying shit like this at funerals. Im not to familiar if it would even be possible for this family or any grieving family to do so, but it would be nice for someone to actually get a piece of these westboro fuckers.
