Doesn't really shock me too much, plenty of people out there that are against gay marriage (and in some cases gays in general). Too bad some of those groups spend time and money trying to enforce their beliefs on everyone else through law and government. If you don't like the LGBT community, gay marriage, etc. then that is your right, but trying to force everyone to conform to your beliefs is going over the line.
I'm sure there are some in the LGBT community that try to force everyone to conform to their beliefs as well, and they would be going over the same line as well. Though what some find as going over the line is a bit comical but thats a debate for another time (basically what is going "over the line" for both sides).

I think in the last 10 to 20 years the general populus has gotten very self centered and lost sight of the future and the possibilities.

Yep. Whether you like the man or not, Kennedy's speech at Rice university has a very pertinent message for today's society.
