Re: EA/bioware asshats
I'm happy that this guy gets to play his game now, but that EA flipped the switch back on for him is no comfort to me.
I don't care if they meant to do it or not. What are they saying now? What I hear is; "Oops, we didn't mean to abuse our power this time." EA reserves this authority for themselves. That's troubling.

Re: EA/bioware asshats
I don't think you understand (no offense). EA says it was a clerical error. Either his account was shut down simply because some guy hit a button with his elbow by accident, or they meant to shut down the account of someone who was doing something way worse like piracy or death threats. It appears to be a mere coincidence that he had posted a single unhappy sentence about BioWare and EA.

Re: EA/bioware asshats
It's quite possible I don't understand.
What I thought was that EA has the power to arbitrarily deny access to someone who purchased the game. They get to be the ones to decide. Their ToS (or license, or whichever document they use) is complicated and vague, and could be used to justify most anything. Even after you have paid, you are completely beholden to EA. You say that someone hit the button by accident. My issue is that they have that button at all.
I'm not saying they don't have a right to police their forums, or to try and keep network games and servers from succumbing to the internet's cheating and griefing scum.
I'm not saying it isn't a hard problem.
