Lol, and you're bringing up the young earth theory, which I never mentioned. That is one of those "I have a mental disease" theories. Also, keep in mind the amount of salt you must take with a book like the bible. Until the founding of Jerusalem I would presume, the books of the Hebrew bible were an oral tradition. You remember that game they made you play in school where kids in a line start whispering a message down the line? Think like that. There's truth in there if you know where to look. It's just covered in shit.

Oh hell no. You are the one that said it was a book of historical accuracies. Now you say you have to take it with a grain of salt and the truth is there if you know where to look? You either know the accuracy as you said you did or dont know more then then scholars. Take your pick and either prove it or admit you overstated your knowledge of the book.

Yes if you read my post there was a flood but nothing anywhere remotely near what the bible discusses. Your religious beliefs have nothing to do with your statements up to this point.

Flood stories are common because most ancient civilizations formed around flooding rivers, which helps with early agriculture. An actual global flood is impossible for purely physical reasons. Even if the atmosphere held enough water to produce a global flood of biblical proportions, that much water precipitating from the air in that short a period would release enough energy to cook the earth.

Theres nothing wrong with being religious. Some people just feel better about there being a purpose or having a belief in something bigger then themselves. Personally i am not but i would never try to say that somehow makes one person better then the other. Religion imo is actually a good topic to debate as long as it can be kept civil.
