huh... what case studies are you citing? Perhaps more outbursts to parents as a result of the lack of fear from the absent beatings. But thats a good thing. Look at the acceptance rate of todays children of different folk.

Sensible people know that some kids need help, others need to be talked too, and some like the kid in this story just need a good smack aside the head. No sensible person is proposing that one size fits all, only bad parents propose that.

I grew up with too many kids whose fathers, and sometimes mothers, beat excessively and in the open. When it was accepted. It is parents like those that killed it for sensible corporal punishment. I grew up to catch a beating here and there, and I deserved every bit of it. My father hit us sparingly but without restraint when needed, my mother busted out the wooden spoon. I support the way I was raised, but sadly there were too many people that took it over the line and ruined it for it that would prefer the old school method.

Not that I am so naive to think that abuse still doesn't occur either, but...........
