04-12-11, 08:33 PM #1Japan officials raise Nuclear Crisis level
Meant to post about this last night (before forgetting ), heard about it yesterday afternoon. One thing I'm curious about, because everyone seems to want to point out "Chernobyl level," was the rating for Chernobyl done by an independent panel?
By the way, at least of last I've heard, I don't believe it is anywhere close to Chernobyl other then on a rating scale, seems a massive difference between the two (even with the latest problem).
BBC News - Japan: Nuclear crisis raised to Chernobyl level
Japanese authorities have raised the severity rating of their nuclear crisis to the highest level, seven.
The decision reflects the total release of radiation at the damaged Fukushima Daiichi power plant, which is ongoing, rather than a sudden deterioration.
Level seven previously only applied to the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, where 10 times as much radiation was emitted.
Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan said radiation leaks at the plant were declining.
this link covers what I was saying (from again just hearing through news sources, PR releases, etc.) about only be similar in the rating:

Re: Japan officials raise Nuclear Crisis level
Of course - but the silly thing is that there are media both drumming it up for an agenda and media drumming it ..... down(?) for an agenda. Some seem to want to minimize it and compare it to a "warm bubble bath" and others would like to equate it with.....Chernobyl or some other apocalyptic reference

No one has been killed by it, but that is because they die of cancer and complications later, it is not immediate, unless they are involved in a Nuclear Explosion and melt.
Look at how much highly radioactive water went into the sea. The fish eat and swim in it and the people eat the fish.
