Why should they recieve funds and then be able to wipe out civil rights that are protected by those government entities? Then i also have to think that no where in the bill of rights does it contain a line similar to "Unless someone deems others shouldn't have any of these rights listed while on private property".
Family members do, they just don't get to decide what happens of the public property a certain distance away from the funeral. They could easily invite the WBC into the funeral if they wanted, or not invite them if they don't want them there.

And the entire bill of rights deals with just government powers, it doesn't apply to private property. If PETA is protesting on your property, you have every right to kick them off it. If they move and are now protesting on public property, not much you can do about.

I'd love to find out how many colleges in Texas actually approve of this law. I have my suspicions that it isn't a incredibly low amount that do, sort of like the guns in bars law here (which like I said, I've yet to see a bar which was said it is okay with guns in their building).

That does not change the fact that no where in the bill of rights does it give anyone the right to remove which ever right they see fit.

Walk into a restaurant or other private facility and start cursing and screaming and find out how fast you get removed.

And then are you going to sue them for infringing on your freedom of speech? Good luck.

If you remember we made things this complex. Going back to basics could be good in some aspects but it could have negative effects as well. It appears to me with some things changing here and there we are starting to go back to basics. The whole pc bullshit causes more harm then it ever will good.

No, in the Bill of Rights it doesn't give the federal government the right to remove whatever they want, it doesn't say anything about private property and little about States (other then powers not given to federal go to state, though later case law establishes that it does apply to states).

Maybe my thought process is a little off on this but see if you follow what im saying.

Everyone in this country jumps on the freedom of speech and so forth when it comes time to defend what someone is saying regardless of where they are at the time. I used westboro church as an example because lets face it they are the current pieces of shit hiding behind it. I also, and this isnt law but its my opinion, think that if a school is recieving funding by the fed or state then it should not be allowed to make any calls that the government itself cant make. Seeing as 90% of colleges recieve funding that narrows the playing field of those that would be able to make the call. If they are standing on their own without aid then they can make the call.

A college can do what it wants. They already do with possession of alcohol on campus. Also, back in the early 2000s colleges and universities only received about 5% of their funding from the federal government iirc.

I used to debate and the topic that year was on secondary education and if the federal government should implement a nationwide plan. The funding argument was a big part of many cases. Ill try and grab the link, but the data is almost 10 years old and I'm not sure how relevant it is today.
