You dont know the half of it hub. Philly pd is full of racists and corruption. So not actually knowing the law falls short on their issues. Most likely they were told about it but no emphasis was ever put on it so they simply forgot.

Cop(s) acted like a jack ass, then his dumb ass, seemingly power stricken buddies show up acting all badass cursing at the guy. All this could have been avoided if the officer acts like he should......PROFESSIONAL

Yup. Those officers were totally unprofessional and should be fired. Where's the IA when you need them.

You cant be mad at someone for not knowing all the laws, but it seems that this law is quite important. But the guy was just looking for trouble. A professional Troll.

Ok the guy in Maine did troll the cops a bit ("yes I have ID but I'm not going to show you"), but the point was Maine cops should recognize that Maine is a traditional open-carry state so it should cause no RS or even be unusual to encounter people open-carrying on foot there. In this case, if the cops were called by someone saying "there's a guy with a gun running around" then because Maine is traditional open-carry, there should be no RS under the "unusual items" clause to the police that actually arrive, particularly if the dispatcher has ascertained from the reporter that no crime was being committed or was about to be committed (i.e. holstered weapon). At that point, there is no grounds for conducting a Terry stop (furthermore Maine does not require stop-and-identify during Terry anyway - the guy should have just said "I am not required to identify myself to you, I do not have to answer to whether or not I carry ID on me"). The police should not be able to invoke RS just to test the eligibility of carry if there was no RS of anything else other than the plain fact that you were carrying (like if you are driving a car and display no evidence of breaking any laws or about to break a law, the police cannot pull you over - which is why they tend to follow people they are interested in until the driver does do something to warrant a legitimate stop).

Part of the open-carry movement's objective is to raise awareness and change both the public's and police's perceptions that seeing private citizens carrying holstered weapons in an open-carry jurisdiction is not an aberration or unusual circumstance, but merely nothing to be concerned about (just like say, people riding segways on the streets of DC). The sentiment is if law enforcement carry and the public encounters them regularly at the gas station, supermarket, and other public places, why should the perception work differently for private citizens?

One thing that we all forget and in my opinion the most abused is that a cop can't just stop you and ask you for your ID? They are supposed to have suspicion that a law has been broken. If there is no suspicion of a crime and they fucking with you then that is harassment. I am not sure what loop hole they use for DUI checkpoints.

Its not a loop hole. Its a blatant violation that they get away with every holiday under the guise of safety.

ROFL what is that nonsense? People shouldn't care if they are illegally detained by police officers? The only thing i can say to that is its safe to say who is a sheep around here.

Drunk or not, I dont feel we should give up our freedoms, and being stopped at a police checkpoint is a violation. We are protected from unlawful search and that is basically what they are doing.
