    Actually it can take a very long time for a forest to recover, don't act like "Oh it just comes back and we are all happies!" It can take decades to really recover (I believe there is one area you can drive by in Arizona that hasn't recovered from a fire there in the 80s). This article is more specific to a single fire (its hard to find generalized stats on it) but I do believe the trees they talk about are the same here (afaik its mostly Ponderosa here)

    Not to mention the possible impacts on the towns in the area (especially Greer which is almost entirely ran on tourism)
