Re: Chained dog bites girl....
I think the main point of this story is that the dog was restrained on its property. The child was not watched and then was bitten. I do not have kids so I am not going to try to pretend that I know what I would have done in the same situation but if I would have killed the dog I would have been in the wrong.
Bunny Huggers - Settle down, placing a dog on a chain is not always abuse.

Re: Chained dog bites girl....
A chain is some times a nessesity. I have 4 dogs and 2 will walk with me out front without a leash. 1 takes off running like crazy but always comes back. The other takes off like a bat out of hell and i see him again when someone calls the number on his collar. That chain can be for their own good. Some just aren't very bright lovable but dumb as shit.
Now if you think chaining it outside 24 hours day 365 days a year is the right thing to do then you need help. Thats not a life and bearly can be considered a pet or companion.

Re: Chained dog bites girl....
I let my dogs run free in the back yard. The ONLY time we chained them is when we took them camping with us (once) and when we had them in the front yard with us while we were working on the car/in the yard. 99% of the time they sat in the shade happy to be with us, never pulling on the chain.
Never left them alone for more than 5 min to run to the rest room or answer the phone or something.
In my city it is illegal to chain for more than 2 hours at a time.
