Re: Chinas warning to US
The difference between China and Iran/NK, is that China depends on us as much as we do on them. We buy shit from them.....and, they hold much of our debt. They won't play with their best customer, and kill the value on the debt they hold. Iran/NK can't say the same.....plus both are fucking nuts. China may be a lot of things (as can be said of any totalitarian regime), but the aren't whack-jobs like Iran or NK.

You can't just quit importation cold turkey without some sort of repercussions. In this case it would cause prices of certain goods to skyrocket until said factories can be built or re opened. And you can't just do that sort of stuff quickly.
But yes I would personally love to see the US weened from importations to home produced.

Re: Chinas warning to US
That may be what your trying to say but it isnt true. The factories we have now do not run near full capacity. Trust me they would love to set those machines on high 24 hours a day knowing they have buyers. I agree the prices will increase but it doesn't take much thought as to why it would cost more to make here then in china.
However everything could and let me stress could actually have a trickle effect on this. Profit margins do not have to be as high if the quantity has been increased. This already happens to a degree so whos to say it wouldn't happen in other areas.
