Blago found guity on 17 corruption charges

Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich has been found guilty of trying to sell the US Senate seat once held by President Barack Obama.

In his second trial in a US federal court in Chicago, Blagojevich was found guilty on 17 of 20 corruption charges.

He was also found guilty of trying to extort funds from a hospital executive.

I found this line interesting, Illinois must be proud

He is the second Illinois governor in a row to be convicted on federal charges.

According to the article, he could get up to 300 years in prison. Of course, he'll probably try to bribe the judge, or sell his jail cell to the highest bidder >.>.

I also loved the defense, once of the worse I've heard in a long time, it was basically "He was just talking, he wasn't actually going to do any of it." Amazing defense, if I get in trouble with the law I'll hire his lawyer. "I wasn't actually speeding, I was just thinking about speeding."

Good. There's no greater danger to our country than corruption in our officials. I hope that he's made an example of.

He'll probably appeal on the Grounds the judge was just talking about sentencing him, and did actually do it.

And theres no greater example of that corruption than in Illinois politics.

I hope so... it'd be really interesting (and help clean things up) if someone who was that linked in starts telling everything they know. It's always great to see what comes out in cases like that. I wonder if Rahm Emanuel will try to have him killed...
