But it is, so it is.
Pretty sure those are minor enough that no charges would ever be filed for child endangerment. I believe it's POSSIBLE, but just not very likely. The reason it's possible is because the DA can claim the parent is corrupting the morals of the child by performing illegal activities around them. The reason it's not likely, is because the ones you mentioned are usually "one-time" crimes, where after they're committed they stay that way, with the child having no way to know a crime has been committed unless they're told. Can't tell the difference post-download between something downloaded through iTunes and something downloaded via torrent. Can't tell the difference between your cable and the neighbor's cable if it's coming through your TV. But a lot of kids can tell the difference between weed and a cigarette lol, so if they see the former they would know something illegal is going on.Last edited by Morningfrost; 07-07-11 at 09:51 AM.

That argument strikes me as... I dunno... weak, somehow. Is the law really that broad? You're excusing some crimes as one-time, or small enough as to not count.
What about any of dozens (hundreds?) of finance and banking directors who have committed embezzlement, fraud, etc and enriched themselves by millions, hundreds of millions, or (in a recent case) billions of dollars? Are they apt to be charged with endangering their children?
You made your argument in terms of morals (and the corrupting thereof). Surely this applies.

Child endangerment is going to come into play anytime there is a possible danger. IE leaving a child in a hot car, taking anything that is mind altering and doing anything with your kids, leaving illegal narcotics somewhere where a kid can get to them (case in point here), letting your children drink alcohol, your kids drinking alcohol without your permission in your home and get caught by the popo, beating a child until they might need medical attention, and so on you get the point.
Its a blanket charge for those to stupid to have kids for the most part. However sometimes people just dont use foresight and get hit with it as well.

Would you leave your gun lying around? While I don't Agree about the Legality (of the Drug at issue), I also don't agree that there are ANY Harmful effects from Cannabis, however I do Agree that it should be kept out of children's hands. Adult things are "adult" for a reason. He probably has Unprotected electrical outlets all over the house.

I can't wait for these children to get the Foster Home Shuffle. Get stuck with someone who uses Alcohol, and Meth and subsequently beats them. hopefully then will they realize, the System sucks, and Cannabis use isn't something we should be really concerned about, there are Far more harmfull things out there and there is an abundance of abuses of the system.
