Re: Should government control electricy?
I would love to have a lower power bill. However i can afford my bill and base my opinion on whats best for everyone. In times like these it becomes more about what others need then what you or i want from the system. Im suggesting free electric or anything like that. Just a power bill that people shouldn't have to struggle to make the payment or decide that no power is better then no water.

If that is the way you look at things why doesn't WalMart charge $100 for laundry detergent? Maybe because they know that people will stop buying laundry detergent from WalMart, and start buying it from Target. The same does hold true for electricity, and it happens every day in Texas. I can choose from TXU, my incumbent, Reliant, the incumbent in Houston but "new" to Dallas, or if I want to pay more to promote green energy I can choose Green Mountain. Hell, we even have an MLM electric provider. Now, if I have choice, and still choose the higher option, then there is nobody to blame but myself.

Re: Should government control electricy?
In florida you do not have an option for where you get power. In several states i have lived in you do not have an option for where you get power. They have different companies but when you go to get it turned on you have one choice and thats the provider for your zone. Period there is no debate, no options, and no competition you can go to. Are you getting the picture now?
You have an area that allows you an option but many do not share that benefit.

Go read my first reply, and you will see I understand the concept. Where we differ is your solution is to hand over the monopoly to the government instead of some private company, but mine is to remove the monopoly by deregulating electricity IN YOUR AREA.

By what logic? Your giving examples of possibilities and i gave you clear cut actual numbers. So what logic are you questioning?
Let me also add there is a difference in what is being said. Your trying to use examples of what the government pays for items and im giving you number the government charges for them.Last edited by deathgodusmc; 07-20-11 at 10:18 PM.
